Overview

AHK-Cu is a synthetic copper-binding tripeptide consisting of alanine-histidine-lysine complexed with copper ions. It shares structural and functional similarities with GHK-Cu but contains alanine in place of glycine at the N-terminus.

Mechanism of Action

The peptide is proposed to promote collagen production, angiogenesis, and antioxidant defenses in skin and other tissues.

Research Summary & Key Findings

In vitro studies have shown stimulation of fibroblast proliferation and increased expression of extracellular matrix components. Preclinical dermal models suggest improved wound healing and reduced inflammation with topical application. Clinical evidence is limited to small observational studies in cosmetic formulations, with no published controlled trials in therapeutic indications.
