Decorinyl (Tripeptide-10 Citrulline)
Overview
Decorinyl is a modified tripeptide featuring citrulline substitution, engineered to interact with decorin, a small leucine-rich proteoglycan that regulates collagen fibrillogenesis. The peptide is proposed to enhance decorin production and activity in the dermis, thereby promoting organized collagen assembly and tensile strength.
Mechanism of Action
Its development targets improvement of dermal structural integrity in aging and photoaged skin.
Research Summary & Key Findings
Preclinical fibroblast culture assays have shown upregulation of decorin mRNA and improved alignment of collagen fibrils in three-dimensional matrix models. Clinical validation through randomized controlled trials has not been published in major dermatology journals as of recent literature reviews.
Clinical Status
Decorinyl (Tripeptide-10 Citrulline) is in the research phase with limited clinical data in humans. Current evidence is primarily derived from preclinical (animal or in vitro) studies.
