Ecnoglutide

01 · Overview
Ecnoglutide (XW003) is a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist peptide developed by Sciwind Biosciences for once-weekly subcutaneous use, with an oral tablet form also in development (PMID 42412371). It is described as cAMP signaling-biased, meaning it preferentially activates the cyclic AMP pathway downstream of the GLP-1 receptor (PMID 42412371).
It is not FDA-approved, but was approved in China in 2026 for type 2 diabetes and for long-term weight management (PMID 42412371).
02 · Research summary & key findings
In a 20-week phase 2 trial in 145 adults with type 2 diabetes, ecnoglutide lowered HbA1c by 1.81 to 2.39 percentage points versus 0.55 with placebo and was generally well tolerated (PMID 39333121). In a 40-week phase 3 trial in Chinese adults with overweight or obesity without diabetes, mean weight change was -9.1 to -13.2 percent versus 0.1 percent with placebo, with mostly mild to moderate gastrointestinal adverse events (PMID 40555243). Further trials are evaluating it in adolescents with obesity and in obesity with sleep apnea or knee osteoarthritis (PMID 42412371).
03 · Regulatory status
Ecnoglutide is currently undergoing clinical trials. It is not yet FDA-approved and is available only through clinical research settings or investigational protocols.
No lawful pathway today
Ecnoglutide is not FDA-approved and does not currently have a lawful prescription or compounding pathway in the United States, so we do not sell it and will not book a consultation for it. That can change: in 2026 FDA began reviewing several peptides for compounding.
